Speech - Prof. Dr. med Thomas Müller, Thema Organspende

Dienstag, 29. Oktober 2019 19:00, Restaurant Vis-à-Vis

Dear Rotaractors, friends and guests,

We are very happy to invite you to our next meeting with a presentation by Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Müller. He ist he deputy medical director of the nephrology department at the University Hospital of Zurich and will talk about organ donation (living and dead) and the system in Switzerland.

In March 2019 a popular petition was handed in, demanding to introduce an opt-out system for organ donation in Switzerland. At the moment a system of extended consent solution is in place which means the person itself has given a declaration of consent otherwise the next of kin are asked for consent in case of death of a person. The Swiss Federal Council stated to support the introduction of an opt-out system with the modification that the next of kin still have the right to refuse the organ donation. So there could be a popular vote in the near future about this topic.

As you can see this is a very current topic and also a very important one for each and everyone of us.
Afterwards, we will as always enjoy a nice dinner and drinks and have room for further discussions about our plans for the next year.

Please note that we have a new situation with the food in Vis-à-Vis: we should help them a bit with their staff schedule and purchasing of ingredients. Therefore, from now on, we will be able to choose from a selection of 5 dishes. It will be always a salad, a vegetarian pasta dish and some choices of their burgers and sandwiches.

When signing up in the Doodle, we would also like to ask you to indicate if you plan to eat dinner on that evening or not. Do not worry, if you get hungry spontaneously, you will still be able to order food (the restaurant only needs a rough indication)

We are looking forward to welcoming many of you!

Best,
The RAC Zürich Board
