Day Trip to Baar and Zug

samedi 12 octobre 2019 10:30, Baar / Zug

Dear all,
After last year’s very nice day trip to Einsiedeln, we have decided to do another Saturday day trip to explore the exciting surroundings of Zurich.

This year we will have the following program:

10:30 – 11:30: visit of the Höllgrotten in Baar
We will visit the one-of-a-kind dripstone caverns and will have a guided tour there. The tour will be in English language. Please bring a warm rain jacket and good firm shoes.

Address for the navigation system: Lorzendamm 28, 6340 Baar

11:30 – 12:30: drive from the Höllgrotten to Zug city center
12:30 – 14:00: time to individually explore Zug city and the lake or grab a quick lunch

14:00 – 15:30: Goldschmiede Lohri
The Goldschmiede Lohri is the oldest goldsmith in Europe. We will have a tour by the owner Mr. Lohri through the historic shop and their goldsmith workshop. Thereafter, we will also kindly be offered some drinks and snacks. Here, I would expect the tour to be in German, but we will certainly have the time to translate or ask questions, should you not understand something.

Address: Neugasse 27, 6300 Zug

15:30 onwards: individual travel back home

The day trip is limited to 12 participants, so sign-up first come first served. The costs for the whole day (without travel) will be CHF 20 for club members/senior members/alumni members and CHF 30 for guests (please bring the amount in cash on that date). The deadline to bindingly sign-up is Thursday, October 10th, 6pm. If after this date, you cannot attend for some reasons, but are signed-up, you either have to find a replacement person on your own responsibility or pay the fee. Since the places are so limited, please be so fair and sign-up only if you are certain that you can attend.

We strongly recommend arriving by car, however, you can also come by public transport, but please bear in mind that the travel to the caves in the morning will be time consuming:

The caves can be reached on foot in about an hour from Baar railway station. Alternatively take bus no. 3 (Baar Lättich) to the Paradies stop and from there it's a 40-minute walk or from Zug railway station take bus no. 2 to Tobelbrücke-Höllgrotten and from there it's a 25-minute walk.

Please state in the Doodle if you plan to arrive by car, by public transport or if you are looking for someone who can take you in their car.

We are looking forward to a great day trip!

Best regards
Alexandra & the Board
